lyrics

When I offered you my hand
It felt a little smaller in a man’s
Trusted I’d get it back
But I can’t bear to ask

I’ve still got a lot to say
I just misplace my words under your gaze
Open wide to mouth your praise
Tongue feels to thick for noise

I forgot my name
I forgot my name
Beneath the shadow of the king

Long you held me in your grasp
Your conquest ended fast
With a scepter made of brass
My nerves of fragile glass
Long you held me in your grasp
But you tired of me at last
Always tired of me at last
And now you’ve turned your back

Won’t you tell me where you’ve been
Always keeping me out or in
Easiest when you’re sleeping
Or if I ever look to leaving

I forgot my name
I forgot my name
Beneath the shadow of the king

Long you held me in your grasp
Your conquest ended fast
With a scepter made of brass
My nerves of fragile glass
Long you held me in your grasp
But you tired of me at last
Always tired of me at last
And now you’ve turned your back

(solo)

Long you held me in your grasp
Your conquest ended fast
With a scepter made of brass
My nerves of fragile glass
Long you held me in your grasp
But you tired of me at last
Aren’t you tired of me at last
And now you’ve turned your back

about

Steps of Doe Los Angeles, California

Keena Batti and Molly Falck met four and a half years ago while studying abroad at Cambridge. Molly thought it would be a great idea to lug her guitar overseas, and so, instead of exploring the 800 year old culture surrounding them, they spent their time bonding over music. Don't worry, they took a tour of a cathedral at some point too. They now perform at all the coolest LA venues. ... more
